The Sacred Valley
Less than one hour by bus north west of Cusco lies the valley of the Urubamba River. Its easy to see why the valley was considered sacred by the Incas with is spectaculor panoramas and fertile alluvial low lands. Standing guard over the winding river valley are the spectacular temple fortresses of Pisac, Ollantaytambo and finally Machu Piccu.
